Melissa Etheridge, Boz Scaggs, Commodores part of Elk Grove concert lineup

Melissa Etheridge, Boz Scaggs and The Commodores are among the headliners of Elk Grove Village's 2019 summer concert series, village officials announced Tuesday night.

The 11th annual Mid-Summer Classics Concert Series will kick off on the Fourth of July and continue on four consecutive Tuesday nights in July. A record 75,000 people attended Elk Grove's five concerts last July.

"It's the most popular thing we do in the village every year," Mayor Craig Johnson said.

Here's a look at the 2019 schedule:

* July 4 -- Melissa Etheridge, the folk rock singer-songwriter known for hits "Come to My Window" and "I'm the Only One," will perform during the Lions Club's annual festival at Rotary Green on Lions Drive. The night concludes with a fireworks display.

* July 9 -- Boz Scaggs, who came to fame in the late 1970s with "Lido Shuffle" and "Lowdown" off his "Silk Degrees" album, will be the first to perform in 2019 on the Village Green outside the Elk Grove municipal complex, 901 Wellington Ave. All remaining shows in the series will be held there.

* July 16 -- The Commodores, Motown label legends who formed at Tuskegee Institute in the late 1960s, went on to chart dance hits with "Brick House" and "Lady (You Bring Me Up)," and ballads like "Easy" and "Three Times a Lady. …
