Sleep Inn Looks to South for New Brand Manager

Norman Cavin has worked in the Southwestern and Southern hospitality industry. He's now experiencing mid-Atlantic hospitality.

In late September, Mr. Cavin became the new vice president and brand manager for Sleep Inn, a Choice Hotels International brand. He comes to Choice, based in Silver Spring, from Promus Hotel Corp. in Memphis, Tenn., where he was director of brand marketing for Hampton Inns.

Mr. Cavin learned about the position with Choice from Mark Wells, the company's senior vice president of marketing and reservations. The two men had worked together at Promus.

Prior to Promus, Mr. Cavin worked in the marketing department of LaQuinta Inns, based in San Antonio.

While at Promus, Mr. Cavin saw Hampton Inns grow from 300 to 850 hotels. He said he hopes to have the same experience with Sleep Inn. "The scope of the brand is very similar," he said.

Part of his job, Mr. Cavin said, will be "helping direct the brand as it grows. …
