Last week, Prudential HealthCare officials announced that the
health plan has struck a deal with the hospital and 36 faculty
physicians to provide care to senior citizens enrolled in their
Medicare health maintenance organization.
Prudential's Medicare plan has 8,637 members in the five
counties of the First Coast.
The hospital has also reached a deal with a Tallahassee-based
Medicaid health plan expanding into the Jacksonville market.
Healthplan Southeast has received permission from state
regulators to expand its commercial and Medicaid health plan
into Duval County, company officials announced last week.
Healthplan Southeast will work with University Medical Center,
the University of Florida physicians and the Duval County Health
Department to provide affordable health plans and wellness
programs to the community, company officials said.
Healthplan Southeast's expansion comes on the heel of
Jacksonville-based Healthcare USA's departure from Florida's
Medicaid managed care market.
