Snyder buys marketing firms
Snyder Communications Inc. of Bethesda agreed to buy a British direct-marketing firm and a marketing database company in the United States for $197.5 million.
Snyder will buy American List Corp. of Mineola, N.Y., for $125 million in stock and Brann Holdings Ltd. of Britain for $72.5 million in stock and $5 million in assumed debt.
Snyder will issue 7.2 million shares, 16 percent of its equity, to the two businesses. The Bethesda market-services company said the acquisitions will add about 8 cents a share to 1997 earnings and 14 cents in 1998.
Strayer Education plans offering
Washington-based business school Strayer Education Inc. filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to sell 1.15 million common shares at $24 per share.
The company expects to raise $13.3 million from the offering and use $6 million of the proceeds to expand its student loan program. Another $3.1 million might go to the acquisition of an Alexandria campus. Jos. A. Bank back in the black
