Reckitts Chief Departs after Benckiser Merger

Reckitt and Colman's UK marketing director, David Shaw, is to leave the company following the Federal Trade Commission's approval of its [pounds]4.8bn merger with Benckiser last week.

Shaw's departure comes as Keith Edwards, Beackiser's marketing director, is confirmed in the top marketing job for the merged company.

A spokesman for Reckitt Benckiser refused to confirm or deny Shaw's departure, saying the company would not comment on individuals.

However, it is understood that while some members of Reckitt's marketing team will be relocated from Hull to Swindon, where Benckiser's marketing department is based, Shaw is set to leave as part of a worldwide redundancy package.

Once the final marketing line-up at Reckitt Benckiser is confirmed, the household goods giant is expected to start reviewing advertising agency arrangements.

Roose & Partners, which handles Benckiser brands including Finish and Calgon, and WCRS, which handles Vanish, are well placed to land more work. …
