Outreach Coordinator Ready to Tackle Career
Beth Kowalski, 23, strives to live by the Golden Rule.
"What comes around, goes around. When I find a roadblock, I figure out a way to deal with it, get around it. I believe in a proactive attitude."
As a young girl growing up in Dyer, Ind., she once had ambitions of becoming a veterinarian, "but I just couldn't get over the fact that sometimes an animal needs to be put to sleep. I just love animals! I also considered careers in counseling, art history and museum programs."
Kowalski began her career as the community outreach coordinator for the Des Plaines Historical Museum on Feb. 1. She works under the guidance of museum director Joy Matthiessen.
With parents Bernard and Diane being teachers, she has been surrounded by education all her life; it is in her blood. It is apparent that the charming, wise-for-her-age Kowalski is just the perfect person to network with the local schools, introducing Des Plaines history into the lives of the community's young people.
