Game Makers Knock Greater China Area
Domestic game makers have begun to roll up their sleeves to jump into the greater China area covering China, Taiwan and Singapore that has emerged as a new lucrative market for the relevant concerns.
More than 10 game program developers and machinery makers have already installed launch pads to enter the said market in areas like personal computers and online and arcade games. Nexon and NC Soft, which currently share 80 percent of the entire domestic market, made inroads in Singapore and Taiwan in 1998 and in January of this year, respectively.
Both companies have also begun to turn their eyes to the Chinese market, with huge amounts of buying potential based on their experiences doing business in Taiwan and Singapore.
Actors Soft recently exported online chivalry game programs through Taiwan's game maker Saint Hermit.
Market observers say domestic game programs have been attracting growing popularity from the consumers of related nations. For instance, the game program ``Lineage,'' developed by NC Soft, has come under the spotlight in Taiwan with increasing acclaim from Taiwanese game buffs.
Amuse World and GC Tech have already advanced into the Chinese market in the arcade game area with high added value and the largest market size. …
