MR & MRS BROWN; Gordon Marries His Sarah Today

CHANCELLOR Gordon Brown will marry his long-term girlfriend Sarah Macaulay today at a small family ceremony in Scotland.
The bombshell announcement that the couple are finally to wed took Westminster by surprise.
Mr Brown, 49, said: "We are absolutely delighted and very happy."
He has been dating the 36-year-old public relations executive since 1994.
It emerged last night that the couple began arranging the wedding in January, making it the best-kept secret in Westminster.
The wedding date had been displayed in the parish in the normal way. But no-one had spotted it
At the ceremony held in his Dunfermline East constituency in Fife, Mr Brown will give his bride an eternity ring. Best man will be his older brother, John.
A Church of Scotland minister will conduct the service. Only close family and friends have been invited.
The couple will fly to Cape Cod in the US for a three-week honeymoon. A special adviser said: "Gordon and Sarah will hold a party for friends and colleagues when they return in September."
Tony and Cherie Blair will not be attending. But a spokeswoman said: "They are very happy for the Chancellor and Sarah Macaulay."
Mr Brown's former press aide Charlie Whelan said: "I wasn't that surprised. I'm very happy for Gordon and Sarah because they are obviously in love and everyone's going to wish them good luck in their marriage.
