Internet Consulting Biz Booming
The explosion in Internet startups is nurturing a consulting business that offers a package of venture incubation solutions.
According to industry sources, a host of Internet consulting firms, including e-Corporation, ICG and DLRM Korea, are strengthening their marketing campaigns to woo more clients, riding the wave of the Internet boom.
Hongik Internet and Emotion Co. have also strengthened their Internet business divisions to stake out the biggest share in the emerging market for online startups.
PricewaterhouseCoopers Korea, an existing consulting heavyweight, is also expanding into Internet business in order to join the race for venture enterprises willing to get advice on the risky Internet business industry.
The dramatic increase in demand for Internet consulting is attributed to the shift in the chief strategies of major conglomerates and non-IT (information technology) firms in favor of the Internet industry.
Companies belatedly attempting to break into the fiercely competitive online market need technical tips and support in starting a new service.
Therefore, the demand for seasoned Internet consultants is likely to jump further as the Internet boom is unlikely to slacken, at least for a while.
ICG launched its Internet consulting service last month with a paid-in capital of 300 million won. About 40 marketing and technical staff joined the firm to kickstart the consulting business.
