Kyongsangnam-Do Organizes the KIMEX 2000 to Boost Regional Economy


The ``Korea International Machinery Expo 2000 (KIMEX 2000)'' will be held in the Plaza of Meeting in Changwon stadium, Changwon, Kyongnam, for six days from October 2 to October 7 under the theme of ``The creation of new machinery culture toward the 21st century.''

From now on, this expo will be held every other year and expand its scale to become one of the most famous expos in the world. Kyongsangnam-do will also put in their great efforts to attract potential buyers and world famed companies to boost the regional economy.

Kyongsangnam-do wholeheartedly welcomes your participation in this big event for the new millennium.

The followings are brief outlines of the fair organized by Korea Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association in Changwon city, Kyongsangnam-do.

Venue: The Plaza of Meting in Changwon Stadium (address: 145, dudaedong, Changwon, Kyongnam, Korea).

All kinds of machinery that will be displayed in the wide stadium of 13,500 square meters are to be exhibited from 10:00 to 17:00 every day.

Items to be shown are: 1)general machinery, factory automation equipment, 2)Transportation, distribution and package machinery, 3)Manufacturing machinery, metal processing machinery, 4)Casting, forging and welding machinery, 5)Heat processing machinery, 6)Coating & Painting machinery, 7)Metal molds, tools, processing machinery, 8)Energy & environment related equipment.

As the fair is organized and operated by Kyongsangnam-do which has been developed mostly as the cradle of the machinery industry in Korea, especially in the fields such as heavy industries, shipbuilding and aerospace industries, it is strongly supported by the related ministries and others including Ministry of foreign affairs and trade, Ministry of government administration and home affairs, Ministry of commerce, industry and energy, Ministry of science & technology, Korea Broadcasting System (KBS), Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), The Federation of Korea Industries, Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Korea Federation of Small Business (KFSB) and Korea Association of Machinery Industry.

The fair will include additional events under the name of ``Days of Sister States.'' October 2 is the day of Yamaguchi, Japan; October 3, the day of Shandong, China; October 4, the day of Khabarovsk, Rusia; October 5, the day of Dong Nai, Vietnam; October 6, the day of Laguna, Philipines; and October 7, the day of East Java, Indonesia.

During the days of Sister States, new products of the above countries will be presented, while best invention contest will also be arranged for citizens, technical high school students, college students and adults respectively.

At the same time, so-called ``The Best Contract Maker'' for the day will be selected to be awarded, while various business meetings will be held to consult and make contracts with potential buyers overseas.

Application for the KIMEX 2000 is being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 500 booths. All you have to do for the application is send an application along with one of your company and product catalog to the exhibition team of the Korea Machine Tool manufacturers' Association.

As for the booth space and type, you can choose one standard booth of 9 square meters with type of air dom. Also available is the Line booth which means that the applied booths will be arranged in a line, which can be applied for up to 3 booths and one space of which is 9 square meters (3m X 3m). Those exhibitors who are in need of more than 4 booths are advised to apply for block booths which are arranged in a block. They can be additionally applied for on the basis of 2 units in total (18 square meters: 6m x 3m) and whose basic space is 36 square meters (6m x 6m).

Booth fees are $2,000 or 200,000 Japanese yen per a booth including value added tax. It includes the exhibition space, guarding for 24 hours, cleaning of the passageway, electricity for lighting, and distribution of the exhibition catalogs with invitation cards. …
