ETRI Develops Digital Contents Editing Software
ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) unveiled digital contents-editing tools aimed at propping up the explosive growth of the Internet and ubiquitous digitalization, yesterday.
At a press conference, ETRI officials showed software tools that allow users to make, modify and refine digital contents with ease, marking the first ever attempt here.
The software package is designed to help Internet surfers and computer users to edit three-dimensional animation, education video and other Web contents without relying on the imported software.
``In producing digital contents, we have so far imported editing software from abroad. The newly developed digital editing tool will replace the expensive foreign software while upgrading the nation's level of digital contents,'' an ETRI spokesman said.
The breakthrough came as ETRI, a state-run research center specializing in telecom and computer technology, and the Ministry of Information and Communication joined hands to meet the rising demand for refined digitalization.
The software package includes three editing tools: an animation production tool, an MPEG-2 editor and an audio contents editor.
``In terms of convenience and user-friendliness, ETRI's editing tools are competent compared with foreign software,'' ETRI officials noted. …
