Security and Encryption Technologies Booming
The rapid development of the Internet has changed the way the people communicate with each other. During the fast five years, communication technologies have changed at a breakneck speed, but that progress has caused new problems that require solutions.
For instance, it is so easy to read an e-mail message or buy a book using an online shopping website, but most people are unlikely to recognize that there is a weak point that exposes their private information such as their address, ID number and phone number.
Digital communications and transactions travel through the Internet via multiple computers where user information can be stolen, modified, or altered.
However, that dilemma will be resolved soon by the public key infrastructure (PKI) technology.
``PKI is an important foundation for digital trust in enterprises and extranets,'' said Jeason Yeu, president of 3Rsoft.com, a subsidiary of 3R Soft Inc., which controls an 80 percent share of the security software market.
Using a PKI-enabled mail server, the system's administrators can trace a visitor's personal information or the location of their personal computer and eventually protect additional crimes on the web. Furthermore, the system can provide legal evidence in the form of a log file.
In addition, users can securely download digital credentials into their personal computer from anywhere over the Internet, allowing them to work from multiple systems both at their offices and at home.
His company yesterday unveiled its latest version of the PKI-enabled mail server ``@Secure,'' which was jointly developed in cooperation with the U.S.-based security software developer RSA Security Inc.
``This platform provides a complete management solution for building and operating electronic mail servers for enterprises and Internet application,'' he noted. …
