Park District Moves to the Top of the Class

When a company is awarded ISO 9000 certification, industry knows that company is certified in meeting professionally recognized standards worldwide. Becoming certified is a rigorous process, and it lets others know that company does business exactly the way it proclaims.
In the world of park districts, that certification is equivalent to the Distinguished Agency award.
The Hoffman Estates Park District recently earned the Illinois Association of Park Districts and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association joint Distinguished Agency award because the district exemplifies the highest industry standards in delivering recreation services to its residents and professionally works to improve the quality of life for Hoffman Estates residents.
Only 22 other park districts have earned this distinction. There are more than 350 park districts and park and recreation departments throughout the state.
"It took the park district two years to make this happen," said Scott Triphahn, president of the Hoffman Estates Park District Board of Commissioners. "And what makes this especially sweet is the fact that just three years ago, we were a struggling park district. We've come a long way."
To earn the award, all park district operations are evaluated against the joint committee's standards and criteria. …
