AAIM hosts annual benefit fashion show Oct. 17

The Schaumburg-based Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists will hold its eighth annual benefit fashion show and luncheon at noon Oct. 17 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel at 160 E. Pearson with another entrance at 120 E. Delaware.

Funds for the event will benefit victims who suffer financial difficulties from uninsured drunk drivers.

The honorary chairperson for the event is Secretary of State Jesse White.

The benefit will showcase a selection of clothes from the 900 North Michigan Avenue stores.

ABC 7's news anchor Alan Krashesky will serve as master of ceremonies with other celebrity models in attendance.

Police officers will the most drunk driving arrests around the state will be recognized for their work.

A silent auction with more than 100 items to bid on also will be part of the event that in the past has raised more than $250,000.

Tickets for the luncheon are $80.

Clark Gable classic movie at Prairie Center for the Arts

The Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts film series will kick off for the season Thursday with Frank Capra's comedy "It Happened One Night."

Clark Gable starts with romantic leading lady Claudette Colbert.

The film won five Academy Awards including best picture in 1934.

Tickets cost $5 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. Show times are 7:30 p.m. For information call the box office weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at (847) 895-3600.
