16-Year-Old Has Traveled World on Strings of Her Violin

Anne Rabbat of Mount Prospect has toured the world on the strength of her violin virtuosity.
She has performed in Russia, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Los Angeles, even the White House - which, these days, probably is a wilder place than any of the above.
However, her favorite performances have been those closer to home. "All those foreign concerts kind of run together for me," she said. Rabbat prefers Orchestra Hall in Chicago, where she estimated she has performed 20 times.
"It's a formal atmosphere, but it's close enough to home to be memorable," Rabbat said.
In her 13 years as a performing violinist, Rabbat has received more commendations than you can shake a Stradivarius at.
By the way - she's 16 years old.
The Prospect High School junior will perform Brahms' "Concerto in D Major" with the Fox Valley Symphony during its annual family concert, to be held at 3:30 p.m. today in Aurora's Paramount Arts Centre.
Rabbat has been working on the Brahms concerto since August, which "shows how long it takes to prepare a piece," she said. …
