Geneva Moves Slow for Pillsbury Dough

Geneva City Council members have said they want to ensure all the ingredients for a Pillsbury manufacturing plant along Kautz Road mix with positive results for residents.
During their first look at the project at a development committee meeting Thursday night, council members questioned several aspects of the proposal, including how much it will help the tax base.
"I want to make sure we don't lose ourselves in the euphoria of Pillsbury," Alderman Paul DesCoteaux said. "Let's consider all the elements ... keep our (city) taxes down, too.
"Are the taxpayers going to be ahead or behind?"
The Pillsbury Company proposes to build a 125,000-square-foot frozen food manufacturing facility, with three subsequent expansions possible, in the city's business park along Kautz, just south of the Millard Refrigerated Services warehouse under construction.
Council members asked about several potential impacts, including traffic and roads, utilities, police and fire service, as well as sewage and odors. …
