Fees for summer school to rise to $20 in 1997
Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 board members approved increases in summer school fees in 1997.
Fees for incoming freshmen have been increased from $18 to $20. The credit program has been increased from $55 to $60. The non-credit program was increased from $31 to $36.
Fees for the non-credit varsity baseball and softball program have been increased from $100 to $120. Out of district fees were hiked from $150 to $160.
The cost of the program to the district will be about $433,600.
Superintendent Gerald A. Chapman said with the district tries to recover about 50 percent of the actual costs of running the program.
Contractors are hired to help in classes
School board members awarded contracts for plumbing work to Bob Dorr Plumbing and Heating Inc. and Hayes Plumbing for the district's building construction classes.
The $16,800 contract for Dorr Plumbing is for a house being built by students at Conant High School, and the $16,540 contract to Hayes Plumbing is for a house being built by Schaumburg High School students.
The board also approved contracts for $23,032 for lumber from Wille Brothers Co. …
