Argonne Opening Doors 50th

Next week, visitors to Argonne National Laboratory can peek at the props from the feature film "Chain Reaction," which was partly filmed at the research lab.
Or they can peer over the horizon by attending a lecture on the outlook for nuclear power.
If that doesn't suit them, they can opt to watch high-speed supercomputers networking on the Internet of the future. Or they can tour the advanced photon source, one of the world's most powerful X-ray machines.
Those options are among the activities scheduled next week to cap off the celebration of the 50th anniversary of federal lab near Lemont.
The events include a day for business and industry, an open house for the public, an education day for students and a daylong series of lectures featuring two Nobel laureates.
Here's what's on tap:
- Business and Industry Day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday.
