Historical Society Adds to Collection
The Mount Prospect Historical Society is establishing a memorial program at the request of numerous society members and other Mount Prospect residents.
Do not, however, expect to find brass plaques covering the walls of the museums the next time you visit them.
The board of directors of the society has decided that by proceeding in a different manner it can both preserve the historical integrity of the museums and also gather valuable information that can be of use to future genealogists and historical researchers.
The society will be maintaining a Memorial Book containing a photograph (supplied by the family) and detailed information about the life and achievements of each of the people memorialized.
Each person, all of whom should have lived, worked or somehow contributed to Mount Prospect, will receive one full page only.
The book will be indexed and made available for study by members of the public during museum hours or by special appointment. It will not, however, be allowed to circulate.
Donations in the name of deceased friends and loved ones are now being accepted. In order to be included in the book, a cumulative donation of at least $50 must be received in a person's name because the staff and volunteer time involved for each inclusion is considerable. …
