Hersey Alum Returns to School as New Industrial Arts Teacher
John Hersey High School graduate Dan Ludwigsen, class of '82, returned to the scene of his high school education this year as Mr. Ludwigsen, graphic arts teacher. His family was well-known to the Hersey staff, since five of the six Ludwigsen siblings graduated from the school.
Len Wilson, division head of Hersey's Business/Technology/Life Studies, said, "Dan liked the graphic arts program when he was here. When the job opening came up, he was willing to wait it out to get the job."
"It's a pleasure to be teaching in Hersey's new graphic arts facility," Ludwigsen said. "The program, which provided me with so many opportunities when I graduated, is clearly one of the best in the state."
Ludwigsen worked for a printing company while still in high school, learning the basics that would come to serve him well. After obtaining a bachelor's degree in applied science and technology from Illinois State University, he began working at Allstate Insurance Company. He became the printing division unit manager there. In 1995, he obtained a master's degree in education from Northern Illinois University, where he student-taught applied technology and vocational classes at Rolling Meadows High School. …
