Agency Seeks Opinions on Cable

Residents of five area towns will have a chance this month to say what they want from a cable television provider.
The Northern DuPage Cable Television Agency, or NORDCAT - which oversees cable television service for Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Itasca, Roselle and Wood Dale - is considering a franchise agreement with New Media Enterprises. New Media is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ameritech.
NORDCAT already has an agreement with Time Warner and is now in negotiations to renew the contract.
Residents are invited to comment at any one of the three public hearings, said Mike DeLonay, chairman of the NORDCAT board.
The first hearing is at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Carol Stream village hall, 500 N. Gary Ave. Another is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 22 at Bloomingdale village hall, 201 S. Bloomingdale Road. The third is at 7:30 p.m. May 29 at Wood Dale village hall, 404 N. Wood Dale Road.
DeLonay said it would be difficult for NORDCAT to refuse to renew Time Warner's contract or refuse to enter one with New Media Enterprises. …
