Help Build Area Homes: Wash Your Car
Byline: Lynn Akers
In the age of efficiency, there is a dual opportunity available tomorrow in West Dundee. Not only can you get your car washed but you can help build homes in our area.
How can that possibly be?
Well, a car wash is being hosted by the Board of Mission of First Congregational Church of Dundee. Proceeds will go to the Northern Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity, a not-for-profit organization building homes for people in need.
In the past six years the local Habitat organization has placed nine families in newly built homes in our area. The Northern Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity is currently building houses.
Bruce and Elaine Tietgen are local board members and explained that the international organization is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and will be completing the 50,000th home this year. An average of 34 homes a day are completed in the international program made possible through volunteer efforts and donations.
