IDOT Will Funnel Funds into Fox River Bridge Studies

Illinois Department of Transportation officials will continue pouring money into studies that will determine where the best place for new Fox River crossings should be built.
They have also released the roads they plan to resurface in 1997.
Next year, IDOT officials will spend $440,000 on feasibility and environment studies for the proposed new bridges.
"We are looking at seven locations from Algonquin to Aurora," said Mark Bagherpour, IDOT federal aid engineer.
Bolz Road in Carpentersville is one of the sites. Others are Stearns Road extended through South Elgin; Redgate Road and Dean Street in St. Charles; and Moosehart Road near Batavia. Sullivan and Orchard roads near Aurora also are being studied.
State transportation officials also were prepared to study Summit Street in Elgin, but local opposition forced them to drop it from their list, he said.
State officials have not decided how many bridges from the list may be built.
"A draft of the environmental impact study should be completed and ready for review by the winter of 1997," Bagherpour said. …
