After recent contentious meetings about school bus service, some that extended into the wee hours of the morning, the Duval County School Board should have an easy time of it at its next meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Central Administration Building, 1701 Prudential Drive.
The agenda appears to be quite non-controversial, although board members may get an earful about something during the public comment period.
The School Board will consider the following items at its meeting:
CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES AGENDA:
Approve course recovery and dropout prevention/recovery programs at various schools.
Approve submission of a $350,000 state grant application for Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration Grants for 10 schools.
Approve submission of a $750,000 state grant application for Technology Literacy Challenge Funds.
Approve submission of a $24,056 application for the Florida Compact Program Grant for the Environmental Studies Academy at Raines High School.
ADMINISTRATION AND BUSINESS SERVICES AGENDA:
Approve a $70,000 workers compensation settlement with a former school custodian injured on the job. …
