Retiring Dist. 211 Boss Going to Roosevelt University

Superintendent Gerald Chapman will continue his long career in education as the new associate dean for Roosevelt University's College of Education after he retires this summer as the head of Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211.
Roosevelt President Theodore L. Gross said the university tapped Chapman for the newly created position because it has a "strong education agenda" in the works given a potential teacher shortage on the horizon.
Chapman was approached to oversee the growing education college at Roosevelt's Albert A. Robin campus in Schaumburg because officials knew the veteran educator would succeed in connecting with area high school seniors, Gross said. University officials said they hope his experience and background will help anchor Roosevelt's educational programs in the Northwest suburbs.
His three-year contract - the terms of which were not disclosed on Friday by Chapman or Roosevelt officials - entails teaching and administrative responsibilities. He will report to college of education Dean George Lowery.
Chapman previously has served on a community advisory board for Roosevelt, which also has a campus in Chicago.
Chapman said working for the university is an exciting opportunity to serve the educational community in the Northwest suburbs. …
