Consistent with our efforts to provide informative and value-adding knowledge to our readers, we have assembled three first-rate articles for your learning pleasure. The first article addresses a topic that has long been a top agenda item for HR leaders, i.e., how to build a diverse workplace in a society still burdened by vestiges of prejudice and intolerance. Using an innovative research methodology, authors Bendick, Egan, and Lofhjelm, in their article "Workforce Diversity Training: From Anti-Discrimination Compliance to Organizational Development," review the range of training tools used to address diversity challenges and determine the type of intervention strategy most appropriate to the demands of the situation. Readers of this article will walk away with a much better understanding of diversity training and a significantly enhanced ability to make the right training investment decisions.

The second article takes a slightly different tack than the other two. Executive coaching has become, in a relatively short period of time, an accepted and powerful executive development tool. Despite its popularity, we know little about how to make the best coaching investments. In his article "Career Coaching: What HR Professionals and Managers Need to Know," Daniel Feldman (1) examines the uniqueness of career coaching as distinguished for other kindred development tools, (2) identifies the key indicators for diagnosing the need for career coaching and (3) provides specific guidelines to assist senior managers and HR professionals in effectively implementing career coaching. …
