The Learning City: Engineering School to Link with Business
The new Dean of the School of Engineering at Coventry University has spoken about how he wants the school to play a major part in the economic growth of the West Midlands.
Professor Ashraf Jawaid said he wants to forge greater links with businesses after already making many collaborations with the motor industry.
Professor Jawaid joined Coventry University in 1993 and was employed to develop postgraduate business within the School of Engineering.
In the time he has been at Coventry, postgraduate recruitment within the School has increased twenty fold and links with industry have become a fundamental part of the School's philosophy.
Prof Ashraf has established excellent links with Jaguar and Aston Martin Lagonda, and more recently Land Rover.
``I am delighted with the opportunity that I have been given to further develop theSchool of Engineering, a School which is loved and liked by its students, staff and industrial collaborators,'' he said.
``We are proud of working with local schools, FE colleges and industry. We have a strong collaboration with Jaguar Cars Ltd, Aston Martin Lagonda and companies in their supply chain. …
