MIDDLE EAST: Israel renewed its blockade of several towns in the West Bank today, following a spate of Palestinian shooting attacks and warnings that more assaults were planned.
The Israeli security cabinet met until 3am to approve the decision by defence minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer to seal off the West Bank towns of Qalqilya, Jenin, Tulkarem and Nablus.
The blockades were renewed after Palestinian gunmen killed three Israeli civilians in the last three days. Another West Bank town, Ramallah, was already surrounded following earlier Palestinian attacks.
Outside Nablus, a Palestinian gunman was killed early today by Israeli soldiers.
