Group Aims to Encourage Co-Operation between Companies in Aerospace Industry; BROUGHTON: Morgan Launches New Organisation

FIRST Minister Rhodri Morgan yesterday officially launched a new organisation aimed at encouraging co-operation between companies in the aerospace industry.
The industry-led North Wales Aerospace Group will bring together over 40 companies and organisations from throughout the region, including the Welsh Development Agency, with the aim of developing supplier chains and the growth of inter-trading.
The new organisation will work closely with the existing South Wales Aerospace Group.
Launching the group at Airbus UK's wing manufacturing facility at Broughton, Flintshire, Mr Morgan said, "North Wales's association with the aerospace industry has a long and successful history.
"It is a world-class industry and we want to ensure that it remains strong and competitive in the future. Despite its current problems, aerospace will remain a key industry with long term growth.
"Our economic strategy, A Winning Wales, highlights how future success will depend on our industries' ability to innovate, to develop cutting-edge technologies and boost the skills and know-how of their workforce.
"We can help the industry by providing the right support make sure that it stays ahead of the game.
"This new forum will enable the aerospace sector in North Wales to exchange and pool their expertise on new technology, processes and skills. …
