THE PREMIER of Queensland's Export Awards are a highly visible and tangible recognition of the effort, innovation and sheer determination of the State's top exporters. The Awards also promote awareness in the community of the importance of developing an export culture, and of the vital role international trade plays in Queensland's economic future. They promote top exporters as role models to stimulate greater involvement in exporting among Queensland business.
Through their drive and innovation, Queensland's exporters bring wealth into our State, generate many new jobs, invest in new technology, help to develop the skills of our workforce, and enhance Australia's and Queensland's international reputation.
My Government is keen that Queensland develops a deeper export culture, and this is one of the central planks of the trade strategy. We would like many more Queensland companies to take up exporting as a business growth strategy. The achievements of Export Awards applicants act as a fine example to others.
Since their inception, the Awards program has grown in stature within the State's export sector, with 2001 attracting record entries and significant success in the subsequent Australian Export Awards. …
