LTI Luncheon Recognizes Certificate Recipients

NLC President Karen Anderson, mayor of Minnetonka, Minn., offered words of support and encouragement as she kicked off the Leadership Training Institute Seminar Participant and Recognition Luncheon held on March 8, 2002, during the Congressional City Conference in Washington, D.C.
Surrounded by the support of their guests, Leadership Training Institute (LTI) program participants and other luncheon attendees, the Silver and Bronze level recipients sat with eager anticipation and excitement for the certificate presentation to begin.
The LTI's Certificate of Achievement in Leadership Program offers four levels of achievement and recognition in an effort to make the engaging program obtainable by local officials at any point during their term of public service. Recognition levels include: Bronze: Leadership Fellow; Silver: Leadership Executive; Gold: Leadership Ambassador; and Platinum: Leadership Statesman.
The Leadership Training Council (LTC) recognized the 45 recipients in an award presentation during the luncheon. The Certificate of Achievement in Leadership Program "Spring Class of 2002" consisted of the first two Silver Certificate recipients and forty-three Bronze Certificate recipients.
Council Chair, Charles D. Jennings, presented those in attendance with their certificates. Jim Hunt, and Kathie Novak, both former council chairs and current LTC members, as well as LTC member James E. Mitchell Jr,. assisted Jennings with the presentation.
The Silver Certificate recipients were: Cynthia Davis, O'Fallon, Mo., and G. Robert George, Charleston, S.C. These two individuals were among the first 17 Bronze Certificate recipients to be recognized in Atlanta during NLC's Congress of Cities Conference last December.
Bronze recipients were: Robert Alkire, Evanston, Wyo., Manuel C. Anaya, Jr., Carlsbad, N.M., Edward M. Barksdale, Lynchburg, Va., Pete Bengston, Seminole, Fla., William R. Buzek, Broomfield, Colo., Mitch Carlson, Shawnee, Kan., Mary Cartwright, Nocogdoches, Tex., Patricia Cline, Dubuque, Iowa, Bill Cross, Gladstone, Mo., Charles Davidson, Kodiak, Alaska, Darreyl D. Davis, Trotwood, Ohio, Doris A. Davis, Brunswick, Ga., Mike Dispenza, Palmdale, Calif., Marla Dorrel, Cary, N.C., Henry B. Fishburne, Jr. …
