Married Priest Will Be Speaker for Series

He's the only father in the Joliet Diocese who's actually a father.
The Rev. David Medow, the Catholic diocese's only married priest, will speak to parishioners at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Naperville on Monday.
He serves as an associate priest at St. Mary Immaculate Parish in Plainfield.
Medow's presentation is the conclusion of the "We Are the Church" series of discussions on contemporary spirituality.
His talk, "Work, Marriage, Family and God: The Spirituality of Real Life," will address ways to bring Catholic beliefs into the family and workplace. As a husband and the father of two teenagers, he has a unique perspective on the issue, said Sister Anne Hyzy, director of adult spiritual formation at the church.
"We're focusing on how all the pieces fit together," she said.
Medow was a Lutheran minister for almost 12 years before he was ordained a priest last summer. Because he was already married with a family, he became one of the few priests who hasn't taken a vow of celibacy. …
