Lombard Planning Live Memorials to All the Town's Village Presidents

Do you live in Lombard and not know what Frank Jirsa, Lester Bergmann and Howell Holloman had in common?
Town leaders are looking to change that.
Trees are expected to be planted later this year at Sunset Park, along Finely Road, to honor Jirsa, Lester, Holloman and Lombard's other former village presidents.
The village is starting the grove with 39 trees donated to the community by ComEd. Village President William Mueller said each of the trees will have a plaque marked with the name of the village president they honor.
The utility company is giving away thousands of 6- to 8-foot trees to several communities throughout its service area. ComEd officials said the company started the tree donation program three years ago.
"We developed this program as part of our ongoing commitment to the environment," George Welter, a ComEd spokesman, said in a prepared release. "Trees are Mother Nature's way of keeping our air clean."
Lombard has received 58 trees from ComEd for Earth Day activities. The village already has given a tree to each of the town's private and public schools to help celebrate Arbor Day. …
