Pupils Get Fired Up on Out-of-School Course; PROFESSIONALS PASS ON PRINCIPLES OF DISCIPLINE, LEADERSHIP AND TEAMWORK

YOUNGSTERS in Nuneaton and Bedworth graduated with honours from a unique out-of-school experience.
They spent three months with Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service being instilled with the fundamental fire service principles of discipline, leadership and teamwork.
Nuneaton's Manor Park Community School and Bedworth's Nicholas Chamberlaine School put forward pupils who they believed would benefit from a different learning experience outside school.
Warwickshire's County Fire Officer Brian Hibbert was at Nuneaton fire station to witness their passing-out parade and to present them with certificates after they successfully completed the service's Firebreak scheme for teenagers aged from 14 to 16.
Community fire safety spokesman Brian George said: "The most important aspect of the event was the culmination of an invaluable experience that will have provided those taking part with a perspective of the community - and their value within it.
"Students were treated as adults - fairly and with respect - the goal being to engender self-confidence and a sense of community responsibility. …
