Nelson, Hall hailed as 'children's champions'
Two long-time community leaders - Rudy Nelson, retiring director of the Rolling Meadows Park District, and Fred Hall, retiring executive director of the Palatine Park District -were honored recently by the Palatine Township Elementary District 15 school board as "Champions for Children." As heads of their respective community park districts, Nelson and Hall were honored for their leadership, commitment to excellence and ability to meet community needs, according to Superintendent John G. Conyers. Only one other such award has been given out by the District 15 board. In 1998, the district recognized Robert J. Coles, vice president at Northrop Grumman, with the first Champion Award for his leadership in helping launch the district's space shuttle Discover 15 project.
