Elementary Teachers in Mundelein Getting Raise under New Pact

Teachers in Mundelein elementary schools will receive a raise of about 5 percent for the coming school year.
New teachers also will get a slight increase to start in Mundelein Elementary District 75 under terms of an agreement unanimously approved early Tuesday by the school board. The agreement affects about 160 teachers in the Mundelein Education Association.
"For the teachers across the schools, it's an average increase of about 5 percent," said Superintendent Ray Partridge.
The new salaries span eight pay ranges, with a peak of $62,379 for a teacher with 20 years' experience and an advanced degree. A teacher with five years' experience and a master's degree would make $34,707.
"The major thing was we were able to adjust our salary schedule for an entry level base of $27,330 and before we were at $27,000."
Last year's salary increase was about 5.5 percent, Partridge said. The cash-strapped district made room for the salary increases by cutting back on the use of substitute teachers during workshops and training, and trimming health coverage choices. …
