REGULATION the California Plan
Having shown the world how not to deregulate electricity, California now is leading the way in lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
Why? You would have to ask Alec Baldwin, Cher, Julia Roberts or some other Hollywood pundit about that. They are always quick to articulate the left coast way of thinking for the liberal media. (Cher, for example, revealing her deepest, most innermost thoughts on George Bush: "He's stupid.")
An explanation of sorts is in The Washington Post story announcing the signing of legislation setting new emission standards.
Scientists say the odorless emissions "appear to be contributing to slow but risky heating of the planet."
Ergo, pundits say, everyone else in America will have to pay more for their autos because there is the possibility that a problem exists and that autos are part of the possible problem.
That is based on the theory that Detroit will have to build all cars to fit the California standards because California is 10 percent of the total market.
Experts say one way to reach the reduced emissions is to build cars that use less gasoline. An auto-maker's spokesman says there are 50 models on the market already that get more than 30 miles per gallon. They don't sell very well -- even in California, where the populace is concerned about the environment; where electric autos were offered, to a big buyer yawn. …
