Jesus Is Lord 24th Anniversary; "This Is the Way, Walk Ye in It." Isaiah.(Opinion &Amp; Editorial)
WITH President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in attendance to deliver a Prayer for the Nation, and the renowned evangelist and popular TV host and founder of the long running sitcom 700 Club, Dr. Pat Robertson as special guest speaker, the Jesus is Lord (JIL) Church, founded and led by charismatic Bro. Ed Villanueva celebrates its 24th anniversary on Oct. 6, Sunday, 3 p.m. at the Luneta Grandstand where Christians of all sectors, other religious denominations, and Muslim brothers and sisters are all welcomed to attend and share the joy of celebration.
JIL, which has now a solid constituency of over a million devotees, and millions more through the marvel of television evangelism, has had a phenomenal growth since 1978 starting with 15 Polytechnic University bible study students under Bro. Eddie Villanueva who was, during the Martial Law regime, eking out a living, teaching economics and finance at the university.
However, before his lifechanging encounter with God and transformation in 1973, Bishop Eddie Villanueva, in his youth, was a confirmed communist-atheist, student activist, street parliamentarian, and radical ideologue of the purest hue in Leninism and Maoism.
Today, Bro. Ed Villanueva's JIL has chapters in major cities in the Philippines as well as chapters in Europe, US, Canada, Middle East, North Africa, Hongkong, Singapore and Taiwan, or wherever there are Christian expatriates, or OFWs, who seek solace in Bible-centered Christian companionship.
Thus, after 24 years of toil, travails, adversities, patience, perseverance and prayer, Bro. Eddie's JIL ministry is reaching out millions more through his TV, radio, literature and video ministries.
Further, with the help of spouse Dory Villanueva, PartyList House of Representatives Cong. Joel Villanueva, and gifted daughter-singer Joni, Bro. Eddie has established the JIL Colleges Foundation in 1983, Diyos at Bayan and PJM Forum TV weekly shows, and recently the God's People Coalition for Righteousness that was organized comprising all concerned Catholics, Muslims and Evangelical Christians, to instill deeper moral values in society and government. …
