Deerfield Man Pleads Guilty to Computer Crimes

A Deerfield man already facing a prison term for breaking into a home will now also serve a probation sentence after his release for computer hacking.
Andrey Timokhin, 21, pleaded guilty to a number of crimes connected to his cyber-vandalism, which involved the records of companies in Vernon Hills and Wheeling while he was awaiting trial for breaking into a Buffalo Grove home.
He was arrested in January, found guilty of residential burglary Oct. 31 for breaking into the home and stealing jewelry and sentenced to five years in prison last month.
As a result of his arrest, Timokhin was suspended from his job as a Web page designer for American Hotel Register, 100 S. Milwaukee Ave. in Vernon Hills.
He admitted Thursday that between Aug. 1 and Oct. 31, he broke into American Hotel Register's computer system and read e-mails, made changes to internal files and placed false orders.
