Woman Finds Art Engaging at Warhol

Proposing marriage on a beach or in a nice restaurant would be a cliche, Brandon Thompson thought.
"Nice places, but everyone does that," said Thompson, 25, of Alexandria, Va., who instead chose to pop the question Saturday to his girlfriend of three years, Megan Storll, also 25, at the Andy Warhol Museum -- and not just with words, but with a painting.
An amateur artist and kindergarten teacher in Charles County in southern Maryland, Thompson always has had an eye for the off-beat, relatives say.
"He's like the class clown grown up -- he always wants to be different," Kara Thompson, also of Alexandria., Va., said of her brother. "I'm not surprised that he came up with an idea like this."
Thompson, who grew up in Blairsville, Indiana County, first considered proposing in a museum several months ago. He e-mailed dozens of museums -- including the National Gallery and Hirshhorn Gallery in Washington and the local Frick Museum and Mattress Factory -- and The Warhol turned out to be the most responsive. …
