She's the nicest girl in the state.
Back in November, Macey Schiff was crowned Uniontown Area High School's homecoming queen. But that was only the beginning for the bright-eyed senior, who went on to compete for, and win, the title of Pennsylvania Homecoming Queen.
Schiff entered the state contest never expecting that she would be chosen to compete.
"I couldn't believe it," she said when notified that she would be a finalist for the state crown.
"I had never been in a pageant before and I had no idea what to expect."
Along with 36 other high school homecoming queens, Schiff was chosen to vie for the state title that was awarded in April in Harrisburg.

"I'm really not into doing my hair, and I don't use make-up," Schiff said, laughing. "I'm a band nerd and not a real fussy-type person. The girls at the pageant were really, really nice and they helped me."
The two-day competition was filled with socializing, essays and interviews.
After settling in the first evening, the girls were given a list of questions they might hear in the initial interview.
"The questions really covered a broad range of topics," Schiff said. "They asked things like 'Who are your congressmen?', 'What do you think of cosmetic surgery?', 'What is your favorite book?' and 'Who do you most admire?'"
After giving the contestants a chance to study the questions, the judges then asked to see the girls, three at a time, to ask them a few of the questions from the long list.
"They took us in, and it was like speed dating," Schiff said. "There were three of us and three judges. Each judge would ask us a question, and we had three minutes to answer. When we were done, we would move to another judge until we saw all three."
The next day was pageant day, and all the young competitors strolled the runway for a series of walks and turns, then waited to hear the names of the top ten.
"Of course my name was the last one to be called," Schiff said, laughing. …
