Saturday Social

There will be an ice cream social at 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Charles Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1815 Boonslick, St. Charles. Cookies, kids games, prizes and entertainment will be featured. For information, call 724-6788.

Bible School

Vacation Bible School is scheduled for 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday to Friday at First Baptist Church, 2230 Lake Saint Louis Boulevard, Lake Saint Louis. Parent's night will be at 7 p.m. Friday. Activities are planned for those in grades six through high school every Tuesday during the summer. For information call 561-8476.

Outdoor Service

An outdoor service is planned for 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 318 South Duchesne Drive, St. Charles. Participants are asked to come prepared to talk about their favorite Bible character and to bring food for a picnic supper. For information, call 949-0160.

Boat Blessing

The annual Blessing of the Fleet is scheduled for Sunday at The Our Lady of the Rivers Shrine at Portage des Sioux. Boats will leave the Yacht Club of St. Louis Harbor in St. Charles County at 1:30 p.m. and travel downstream to the Shrine where the blessings will begin at 3 p.m. Prizes for best decorations will be given to runabout cruisers, houseboats, sailboats and pontoons. Visitors may approach the shrine off north Highway 94 at Intersection J, 14 miles northeast of downtown St. Charles. For information, call 845-3335.

Keenagers Meeting

The Keenagers will meet at 11 a.m. July 27 at Watson Hall, Dardenne Presbyterian Church, 7400 Highway N, Dardenne Prairie. A slide show on animals of South Africa is planned. Participants are invited to bring a sack lunch. For information, call 561-4347.

Old-Time Religion

Old hymns, customs and rituals will be celebrated at the 10:15 a.m. service every Sunday in July and August at Grace United Church of Christ, 8326 Mexico Road, St. Peters. For information, call 272-7620.

Bible School

Vacation Bible School for children from age 4 to sixth grade will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Aug. 5 to 8 at First Baptist Church of St. Peters, 3533 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters. Parents' night will be Aug. 9. For information, call 278-3404.

Scientology Session

"Scientology: Trillion-Year Old Thetans" will be the subject of a free workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Room 126 of the J.C. Penney Building at the University of Missouri at St. Louis. The workshop will be given by the Rev. James T. Elcock, director of Lamad Academy of Malchi-Zedek in St. Charles. The guest speaker will be Moritz Farbstein. Lamad Academy is a Jewish Christian Seminary (Yeshiva) designed to bring together students of congregations, churches and synagogues for the purpose of educating each group about the culture, customs, concerns and perspectives of the others. …
