Study Time Is Offered - for Future Students Get Period to Research Choices for after High School

For about an hour every Tuesday and Thursday, students can meet with college representatives and browse through publications and computer files in the school's guidance center during academic lab time. No classes are scheduled in that period, and students can work on college applications, study or meet with teachers.
About 30 college representatives are expected to meet at Lutheran North with seniors this fall to answer students' questions and talk about the advantages of their campuses to potential applicants. Another influx of representatives will meet with juniors throughout the spring. "We used to have college reps come anytime during the day, but kids would have to miss class," Prange said. "Now there are about twice as many kids seeing reps as there were in the past." In addition to meeting with college representatives, students can use a computer to find information about colleges across the country. They also can find information on scholarships and financial aid and even can use the computer to request that college applications be mailed to them. "Touring far-away campuses is convenient via web sites and videos provided by different college campuses," Prange said. …
