Fair Board Envisions $30 Million from Sale of Seats in Stadium

As much as $30 million from the private sector could be obtained to help finance a proposed $85 million to $100 million domed stadium, which would hold approximately 75,000 people, at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds, Mike Massad, state fair board chairman, announced Tuesday.
Reporting the findings of the board's stadium committee in the absence of Bill Swisher, committee chairman, Massad said, "According to Bill (Swisher), $30 million could be raised from the private sector by the sale of seats on a lifetime pass basis."
Three possible methods of financing the balance of funds needed to construct the proposed domed stadium have been discussed by various entities, including the fair board, the city of Oklahoma City and the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce. Those methods include a one-cent sales tax for one or two years or how ever long it would take to pay for stadium, municipal bonds and a combination of boththose methods. …
