Witness Allegedly Saw Man Shoot Girl in 1992

Shortly after a witness to the 1992 murder of her brother was beaten and refused to testify, Verna Robinson told her mother that if she ever witnessed a shooting, she wouldn't be afraid to talk.
"She said if she was to ever see anybody get killed, she'd tell who did it," said her mother, Barbara Robinson, 71.
Verna Robinson never got that chance.
The second day of the Allegheny County trial of Terrell Johnson, 37, formerly of Hazelwood, began Wednesday with Evelyn "Dolly" McBryde describing that she saw three men standing and Robinson falling to the ground as she knelt behind bushes upon hearing a gunshot.
"I seen him pull the trigger and kill her," McBryde said of Johnson.
Johnson, who has spent the last 17 years in jail for the shooting, maintains his innocence.
A judge granted him a new trial in August 2009 based on a new witness, Kenneth Robinson -- no relation to Verna or her mother. He is expected to take the stand next week.
Robinson, 30, of Hazelwood was shot twice in the head in front of her mother's home in the early hours of July 22, 1994. …
