Accounting Firms with Most Number of Cpas Listed


Five national accounting firms boast more than 20 certified public accountants in Oklahoma City offices, according to research by The Journal Record Marketing Research Dept.

A total of 23 firms responded to a mail and telephone survey by July 15 for The List of Lists of the largest accounting first in Oklahoma City. Of those, Arthur Anderson & Co., based in Chicago, placed first with 48 accountants on staff at its local office.

Arthur Anderson's local managing partner is Robert D. Rose. The firm had placed second on the 1988 list, with 53 local accountants.

KPMG Peat Marwick, whose home office is in New York, was displaced from its 1988 lead to second place this year. It reported 45 accountants on staff locally, down from 55 in 1988. Peat Marwick's local managing partner is Rocky L. Duckworth.

Other top ranking national accounting firms by number of accountants in Oklahoma City offices include Arthur Young & Co. with 39, Touche Ross & Co. with 24 and BDO Seidman with 23. All three are based in New York.

Arthur Young's local managing partner is Richard Corn. Touche Ross's local managing partner is Joseph M. Fleckinger, while Seidman's local managing partner is R. Duane Carter.

Local professional staff among the top five ranked firms range from 104 at Arthur Anderson, established in 1955, to 39 at Seidman, established in 1975. Peat Marwick has 72 total professional staff members, while Arthur Young has 57 and Touche Ross has 35.

In order of rank, other responding firms were:

- Grant Thornton, based in Chicago, with 17 local accountants and a total professional staff of 26.

- Deloitte Haskins & Sells, based in New York, with 16 local accountants and a total professional staff of 19.

- Cole & Reed P.C., based in Oklahoma City, with 14 local accountants and a total professional staff of 23.

- Engelbach Roberts & Co., which assumed the Oklahoma practice of Wolf and Co., based in Oklahoma City, with 12 local accountants and a total professional staff of 14.

- Peters & Chandler local accountants Inc., based in Oklahoma City, with 11 local accountants and a total professional staff of 12. …
