Sweeping Changes Made at Okc Television Station

It's too early to tell if sweeping changes at KFOR-TV, Channel 4, in Oklahoma City, will affect television audiences and therefore advertisers, a station officer said Monday.

"It will be a little while before we know what affect this will have on our advertisers," said Amy Tyner, the station's public relations director. "People have the right to wait and see if these changes are anything more than cosmetic.

"But so far, we've heard nothing but positive comments about the changes."

The station, which was purchased in September by Palmer Communications Inc. of Des Moines, Iowa, changed its call letters, logo, station colors and sets at 10 p.m. Sunday.

Its logo now is "4-Strong," Tyner said.

Palmer Communications, which also owns WHO-TV in Des Moines, made the change to reflect a strong commitment to the community, she said.

"They are a community-oriented company and they want our station, the call letters, to reflect that," she said. "This came about because they (Palmer) started talking with people to find out what they wanted in a television station. The answer to that was a more community-oriented station and something like it used to be. …
