College of Allied Health to Get New Graduate Program
The new program is the only one of its kind in Oklahoma. It offers two tracks - musculoskeletal rehabilitation, with an emphasis in orthopedics or sports physical therapy, and neurologic rehabilitation, with an emphasis in pediatric physical therapy, said Dr. Mark Anderson, director of graduate studies and associate professor of physical therapy. . .
- The College of Nursing at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the Helene Fuld Health Trust, administered by the Marine Midland Bank of New York. The funds will be used to purchased FITNE interactive video equipment, said Dr. Patricia R. Forni, dean of the college. . .
- The appointment of Carolyn Burch as director of volunteer services at Presbyterian Hospital was announced by David L. Dunlap, president.
Burch has been with Presbyterian Hospital since 1982, serving as public relations coordinator. Duties will include overseeing the hospital volunteers, gift shop and ICU/CCU waiting area.
"The Volunteers are celebrating 30 years of service to Presbyterian Hospital this year. We have grown to be an exciting and evolving organization with a current membership of 132 active members," said Dunlap. "We offer over 20 different services to the patients in Presbyterian Hospital, and we are continually adding new services and volunteer opportunities. . ."
- The Presbyterian Health Foundation has awarded a $150,000 matching grant in support of the C.R. Anthony endowed chair in pediatric research at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
In 1984, The C.R. Anthony Co. and the C.R. Anthony Foundation presented a gift of $100,000 to Children's Medical Research Inc. to begin the endowment. This gift was to honor C.R. Anthony, founder of Anthony's, on the 100th anniversary of his birth. . .
- Douglas G. Adams Jr. has been appointed director of the Oklahoma Hospital Association, according to John C. Coffey, president. For the past five years, Adams worked for American Trend Life Insurance Company where he served in several positions, including data processing manager, computer programmer/systems analyst, system operator and supply coordinator. …
