Society of Petroleum Engineers to Meet Thursday

The Society of Petroleum Engineers will have a luncheon meeting Thursday at 11:45 a.m. at Applewoods, 4301 SW 3rd St. A presentation about common pitfalls in forecasting operating costs with respect to oil and natural gas acquisitions will be given by Mark A. Doering, senior vice president of engineering at PMC Reserve Acquisition Co. of Dallas. Doering's findings are based on reviews of more than 500 packages and detailed follow ups of 16 acquisitions. He is a registered professional engineer and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Cost of the program is $12 for members with reservations, $15 for nonmembers and members without reservations, and $10 for students with reservations. Minority Business Development Conference Slated

The Oklahoma Consortium for Minority Business Development has scheduled its statewide Minority Business Development Conference Aug. 24 and 25 at the Fountainhead Resort at Lake Eufaula. The conference is sponsored in cooperation with the Oklahoma Department of Commerce and the Oklahoma Minority Business Assistance Program of the Department of Central Service. Theme of the conference is "Setting an Agenda for the Consortium" and will provide the opportunity for consortium agencies and organizations to identify and develop objectives to solve problems within the minority business community. Docent Training Program for Myriad Gardens Set

The Myriad Gardens Conservatory has prepared a Docent Training Program for the Myriad Botanical Gardens. The program will train volunteers to give guided tours of the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory. Training consists of four modules covering various aspects of the gardens' history, botanical collection and animal life.
