Gale Research, MultiMedia Schools Sponsor School Library Technology Competition
Gale Research and Information Today Inc.'s MultiMedia Schools magazine have joined forces to offer library media specialists an award to promote the use of technology in education. The Gale DISCovering Program/MultiMedia Schools Information Tech-nology Award, featuring a $5,000 prize, honors the school library media center that demonstrates the best use of information technology to support learning. Selection will be made from nominations received by February 1.
The editor of MultiMedia Schools, along with school library media specialists from around the country, will judge nominations based on the following factors:
* Library media center staff outreach to teachers and students that results in integration of library resources with classroom instruction
* Creativity and innovation that leverages technological resources, allowing the school library media center to stretch its resources to their fullest
* Exploration of technology and its integration with other media center resources, improving the quality of instruction overall
* A track record of demonstrated contributions to improvement in learning Representatives of the winning school library media center will receive a $5,000 cash award and a complete set of CDs in the Gale DISCovering Program. The media center will be recognized in MultiMedia Schools magazine, and its representatives will be honored at a gala reception at the 1997 American Association of School Librarians Conference in Portland, Oregon. …
